Behind The Album

Dissociative amnesia is usually related to a traumatic or stressful event. It can also happen because of ongoing strain, such as sudden life changes.
Types
There are three types of dissociative amnesia:
Localized: Unable to remember an event or period of time
Selective: Unable to remember a specific aspect of an event or some events within a period of time
Generalized: Complete loss of identity and life history

Derealization can be caused by a variety of things, including stress, anxiety, fatigue, or substance use. Chronic derealization is often due to trauma or underlying health conditions.

Derealization is a type of dissociation that involves a distorted perception of the external world. People experiencing derealization may feel like the world is unreal, distant, or dream-like. Other symptoms include:
Feeling disconnected from people and surroundings
Feeling like you're an outside observer of your life
Feeling emotionally numb
Feeling like you're in a fog or dream
Seeing objects as distorted in shape or size
Distorted sounds
Time seems to speed up, slow down, or stand still

All of these songs are written about traumatic and stressful experiences in my life. The stories these songs are about I sometimes wish I could forget. Which is what led me to naming this album Dissociative Memories. The brain is wild, how it can suppress, re-categorize, or replace memories as a way of healing.

I hope these songs serve as a reminder that you’re not alone.
